Three Warriors Win at Washougal River Rumble
WASHOUGAL — Rochester had three champions here Saturday to finish fourth as a team at the Washougal River Rumble wrestling tournament.
Dailin Schlecht won the 132-pound bracket, and Riley Cohron was a champion at 138. Jayden Lancaster took first at 152 for the Warriors.
Kalob Spann (170) and Grayson Patterson (120) each finished fifth for Rochester.
The Warriors wrestle at the Wyatt Draper Memorial on Saturday at Ridgefield.
Winlock’s Thayer Wins at Highline Tournament
SEATAC — Winlock’s Dusty Thayer was a champion here Saturday at Tyee High School’s Highline Tournament.
Thayer, wrestling in the 126-pound division, pinned his first two opponents in under 30 seconds, and won in the finals with a second-round pin.
Winlock’s Kyle Akin-Patton finished third at 285. Napavine’s Joey Krause (145), Grant Bennett (195), and Grace Miller (155) all took third.
Napavine and Winlock both wrestle at North Beach’s Bash at the Beach tournament in Ocean Shores, starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Three Bearcats Place at Pac-Coast Championships
VANCOUVER — A trio of Bearcats each finished seventh here Saturday at the Pac-Coast Wrestling Championships.
The annual holiday-break tournament featured 50 teams and 48-man brackets.
Brady Davis, at 126 pounds, beat West Linn’s Ethan Goff, 14-5, in the seventh-place match.
Isaac Reavis, at 195, pinned Graham-Kapowsin’s Chris Jennings (2:25) in the seventh-place match, and at 285 Bryson Boyd pinned Bethel’s Mekhi Frink (0:55) in the trophy round.
W.F. West wrestles at Rochester on Thursday, Jan. 9.
