Walla Walla Thumps Centralia 102-74

OREGON CITY, Ore. — Walla Walla poured in 55 second-half points to beat Centralia, 102-74, here Saturday in the Clackamas CC Holiday Tournament.

The Warriors went 18 of 41 from long range in the win, with Faust Ystueta hitting 6 of 9 and scoring 22 points. Jake Poulton added 26 points and 12 assists.

Taylor Meadows came off the bench to lead Centralia with 24 points. Jerry Boston added 16 and Elijah Hoover scored 11.

Centralia (3-9) hosts Olympic on Thursday.

Blazers Blown Out by Skagit Valley

OREGON CITY, Ore. — Skagit Valley built a lead in the first half and used an 18-0 run in the second half to blow out the Centralia College men, 95-53, here Saturday in the Clackamas CC Holiday Tournament.

Jerry Boston led Centralia with 16 points on 7 of 8 shooting. Elijah Hoover added 10 points, and Tyler Ashmore scored eight with 11 rebounds.

The Blazers, though, went just 4 of 18 from long range and turned the ball over 24 times.

Anthony Iglesia led Skagit Valley with 19 points, going 5 of 11 from long range. The Cardinals outrebounded Centralia 37-31 and tallied 18 steals, with Ajani Chappell coming off the bench to account for seven steals.

Skagit Valley shot 37 of 70 (53 percent) from the field to improve to 12-0.

Blazers Wrap LCC Tourney With Loss to Whatcom

LONGVIEW — Centralia fell behind early and never recovered here Sunday, closing out the Lower Columbia Women’s Holiday Classic hoops tournament with an 83-68 loss to Whatcom.

Danielle Tyler came off the bench to lead Whatcom with 27 points, going 10 of 23 from the field at 6 of 11 from long range. 

Whatcom hit 13 of 28 from long range (44 percent) and outrebounded Centralia 49-33, with Gabrielle Edison grabbing 15 rebounds to go with 10 points.

Centralia trailed 25-16 after a quarter.

Selena Cudney led Centralia with 21 points on 7 of 11 shooting, with 11 rebounds, five steals and four assists.

Lindsey Nurmi added 11 for the Blazers and Chloe Narolski chipped in 10.

Centralia (7-6) plays at Peninsula on Saturday.

Blazers Blow Out Highline 77-35

LONGVIEW — Four Blazers hit double figures and Centralia routed Highline, 77-35, here Saturday in the Lower Columbia Women’s Holiday Classic basketball tournament.

Caitlin Yenne led Centralia with 16 points. Selena Cudney scored 13, going 4 of 9 from long range, and Lindsey Nurmi and Ashley Huffine each added 12 points. Huffine was 4 of 5 from behind the arc.

The Blazers went 10 of 24 from deep as a team, and made the most of Highline’s 35 turnovers.

Top-Ranked Riverhawks Rout Lady Blazers

LONGVIEW — Umpqua bounced out to an 18-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back here Friday, topping Centralia 79-54 in the Lower Columbia Women’s Holiday Classic basketball tournament.

Cielo Gonzalez led the No. 1-ranked Riverhawks with 19 points and added seven steals. Hunter Boske came off the bench to add 18 points, and go 4 of 7 from long range, for Umpqua (11-0).

Caitlin Yenne led Centralia with 18 points and added five rebounds. Selena Cudney added nine points.

The Blazers (6-5) went 4 of 23 from long range (17 percent) and were outrebounded 49-25.
