ADNA — Adna shot 58 percent from the field but the Loggers were too much for the Pirates in a 58-50 win in a non-league boys basketball game here on Monday.

Kayden Allison scored 20 points to lead the Loggers. Carter Whitehead tallied 15 points and Ashton Haight also recorded double figures with 11 points.

Adna’s Chase Collins tallied 22 points and Braden Thomas chipped in 11 points.

Onalaska wasn’t too bad shooting in their first game since wearing football pads, shooting 43 percent from the field and converting 9 of 18 shots from behind the arc.

The Loggers took a 14-9 lead after one quarter and kept the momentum going to lead 27-19 at halftime.

It was all Loggers in the third quarter, building an 18-point lead at one point and going into the fourth quarter up 46-29. Adna battled back in the fourth quarter, scoring 21 points but didn’t have enough time to complete the comeback.

“We closed it to four or five in the fourth quarter. Ony is good, that’s a force. We knew they would be. We played them this summer and they’ve only played basketball for a week but they’re tough kids that know how to win and like winning,” Adna coach Luke Salme said. “They bothered us at the defensive end. We had way too many turnovers to give ourselves a chance. I’m proud of our guys for fighting in the fourth. We stuck our noses in there and gave ourselves a chance.”

Onalaska (1-0) hosts Hoquiam on Tuesday in a non-league game while Adna (3-1) hits the road to face Toledo on Wednesday.

Olson’s Double-Double Shoots Tigers Past Rockets

CASTLE ROCK — Napavine’s Keith Olson recorded a double-double to push the Tigers to a 45-41 win against Castle Rock in a non-league boys basketball game here on Monday.

Jonny Boissonault had 14 points to lead Castle Rock and Landon Gardner chipped in 11 points.

Napavine shot 46 percent from the field and dominated the glass, 32-16.

The Tigers took a 14-7 lead after the first quarter but Castle Rock responded to cut the lead to 21-18 at halftime. Napavine won the third quarter 13-9 and held off the Rockets down the stretch to earn the victory.

“It was just a real physical game, just one of those low scoring, low possession, grind it out type games,” Napavine coach Rex Stanley said. “We were able to hold on for the win.”

Napavine (4-0) hits the road to take on Mary M. Knight on Thursday.
