Monday’s Girls Golf: Bearcats Cruise By Bobcats

ABERDEEN — W.F. West’s Elizabeth Twining tallied 17 points to lead the Bearcats to a 67-13 win over Aberdeen in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls golf match at Grays Harbor Country Club on Monday.

Twining earned medalist honors, just one point ahead of teammate Emma Finley with 16 points, doubling her season average to take second place. Kat Torres and Aberdeen’s Katie Lewis each scored 13 points to tie for third.

Laney Barker added 11 points and Aeryn Elder had a chip-in and scored 10 points. Makenna Klovdahl rounded out the Bearcats with seven points.

W.F. West travels to Tumwater on Wednesday for an EvCo regular season finale at Tumwater Valley.

Tumwater Swings Past Rochester

Tumwater’s Lily McAuley tallied 36 points to earn medalist honors and lead the Thunderbirds to a 104-28 win over Rochester in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls golf match at Riverside Golf Course in Chehalis on Monday.

Kyra Darnell led the Warriors with nine points. Alex Anderson tallied seven points and Kylie Miller and Beige Norton each recorded five points. Andrea Jones rounded out Rochester with two points.

Riley Swick took second place with 24 points for the Thunderbirds and Kennedy Collins finished third with 20 points.

“We have a really young team. We’re trying to take every match as a learning opportunity. I’m proud of Beige Norton,” Rochester coach Brian Keese said. “It was our highest score for a freshman this year. She’s going to continue to get better if she sticks with it.”

Rochester hosts Black Hills on Wednesday and hosts Montesano on Friday for a non-league match.
