Friday’s Boys Soccer: Elma Shuts Out Beavers 5-0

By The Chronicle

TENINO — The Beavers gave up an own-goal in the fifth minute and could never get on the right track the rest of the way, falling to Elma, 5-0, here Friday in 1A Evergreen League boys soccer action.

The Eagles added three more first-half goals, all from Manny Hernandez, and tacked on another with five minutes left in the game from Rodrigo Luna.

Still, Beaver coach Kevin Schultz was happy with his team, calling Friday’s loss a more competitive match than Tenino’s 6-1 loss to Elma back on March 22.

“It was an improvement over the first time we played them,” he said. “The energy was good. We just made too many mental mistakes.”

Chris Ramez played well in the midfield, Schultz said, and Toby Suess had another strong game in the back line for the Beavers.

Tenino (3-6-1 overall, 3-5 league) plays in Forks on Monday.
