Wednesday’s Prep Track & Field: W.F. West Boys, Girls Claim Team Titles Over Black Hills

TUMWATER — W.F. West showed up in Tumwater and left the District Stadium with a boys and girls team title in an Evergreen 2A Conference dual track & field meet here on Wednesday.

In girls action, Kylee Spears won the 100 meter dash in 13.98 seconds. Courtney Bennett won the 400 (1:05.59) and Courtney Sayers won the 800 (3:02.38). Elaina Koenig won the 1600 (6:07.35) and Riley Johnston won the 3200 (14:57.47). Kelly Robertson won the 300 hurdles (50.00) for the Bearcats.

The 4×100 relay team of Nina Heither, Bennett, Robertson and Elizabeth Patana won with a time of 53.47 seconds. The 4×200 relay team of Audrey Toynbee, Bennett, Patana and Spears won with a time of 1:54.94 and the 4×400 relay team of Spears, Heither, Koenig and Robertson won with a time of 4:26.11.

Taya McCallum won the discus with a toss of 103 feet, 1 inch. Chloe Herron won the javelin (102-06) with a personal best throw.

Maliyah Lockwood won the high jump with a personal best (4-10), Megan Flexhaug won the pole vault (9-06) and Gracie Ericson won the triple jump (29-00).

In boys action, Gerardo Sanchez-Carpio won the 100 (11.76) and Charles Mallonee won the 400 (56.33). Sonny Holub won the 800 and Francisco Lima won the 3200 with a personal best time (10:08.64). Connor Russell won the 300 hurdles (41.82).

The 4×100 relay team of Troy Yarter, Aaron Fuller, Bryson Swinehart and Sanchez-Carpio won with a time of 46.10 seconds. The 4×400 relay team of Fuller, Russell, Carver Brennan and Sanchez-Carpio won with a time of 3:30.08.

W.F. West’s Bryson Boyd won the shot put (37-03) and Cooper McCoy won the discus (126-07). Lafe Johnson won the pole vault with a season best 13 feet, 6 inches and Colby White won the high jump (6-06) and the triple jump (42-06.50) and Yarter won the long jump (19-07.75).

W.F. West is back in action on Friday and Saturday at the Chehalis Activators Classic.
