Prep Softball: Warriors Shutout Hoquiam
By The Chronicle
ROCHESTER — Delaney Glazer threw a complete game shutout for Rochester in a 3-0 victory over Hoquiam in non-league softball action here on Monday.
Glazer allowed three hits while striking out 11 batters with no walks.
“Hats off to Delaney, she was fantastic today,” Rochester coach Dave Montgomery said. “The first hit gave up was a bunt single, that’s pretty darn good. That was awesome to see her really take it to them and be commanding in the game.”
Glazer helped her own cause at the plate with two hits and an RBI. Callie Crawford had a hit and was hit by a pitch twice. Makaylah Ely and Faith Kennedy each had a hit for the Warriors.
Rochester scored a run in the first and padded the win with a run in both the fourth and sixth innings.
“I was really proud of our effort defensively. I told the girls after the game we’ve improved overall defensively so much from last year,” Montgomery said. “We talked about our approach at the plate was not good overall as a team. This is a team that’s capable of scoring far more than three runs in a game, we can hit better.”
Rochester (3-1) begins Evergreen 2A Conference play on Monday, traveling to Chehalis to take on the Bearcats.
