Wednesday’s 2A Cross Country: Rochester’s Reese, Centralia’s Erickson Win at Dual Meet

Girls cross country runners take off Wednesday afternoon in Rochester as Chehalis Middle School football players take the field.

ROCHESTER — Rochester’s Casey Reese and Centralia’s Makayla Erickson each won their respective races at an Evergreen 2A Conference dual cross country meet here on Wednesday.
Erickson finished the race in 20:42.77. Centralia’s Brynna Rooklidge finished second in 22:15.8 and Rochester’s Hazel Belknap placed third with a time of 23:29.65.
Centralia won the team title with Rochester not having enough runners for a team score.
Gabriella Holman (23:40) finished fourth and Centralia’s Tawnee Craig (24:33) placed fifth.
Centralia’s Miriam Martinez (24:35.29), Kendra Sutton (25:02) and Alana Conley (34:50) finished 6th, 8th and 9th respectively. Rochester’s Lizeth Rodriguez (24:35.79) rounded out the runners with a 7th place finish.
On the boys side, Reese completed the race in 17:00.37, more than 10 seconds faster then Centralia’s William Brown in second place (17:14.96). Cameron Moore finished third for the Tigers with a time of 17:15.
Rochester won the team title with 26 points.
Rochester’s Levi Jennings (17:55) finished fourth and Jared Winters (19:01) placed fifth.
Centralia’s Jaycob White (19:50), Noah Aliff (20:03) and Elias Stehr (20:50) finished 6th, 8th and 10th respectively. Rochester’s Jaegan Reese (19:55) and Christian Larson (20:43) rounded out the top 10 in 7th and 9th place respectively.
Centralia travels to St. Martin’s University in Lacey on Saturday for the Bill Kehoe South Sound Invite while Rochester has a week off before a EvCo dual meet in Tumwater against Black Hills.

Black Hills Tops W.F. West
Black Hills won the boys team title and took the top two spots in the girls race in an Evergreen 2A Conference cross country meet at Stan Hedwall Park in Chehalis on Wednesday.
In the girls race, Maggie Wood-Richardson won the race in a time of 21:39.85. Xylia Warner was the highest finisher for W.F. West in third place, completing the course in 22:19.77. Savannah Johnston (22:28) finished fourth and Riley Johnston (23:55) placed fifth. W.F. West’s Lydia Briggs (25:14) rounded out the field of seven runners in 7th place.
For the boys race, Black Hills’ Pearse Popchock won the race with a time of 16:53.18. Francisco Lima was the top Bearcat in third place with a time of 17:09. Henry Robbins finished fourth for W.F. West, completing the race in 17:26.
W.F. West’s William Taylor (18:10) earned 6th place and Nathan Briggs (18:46) finished in 7th. Myles Johnston (19:02) was the other Bearcat to place in the top 10, finishing in 9th place.
W.F. West has a week off before traveling to Aberdeen for an EvCo dual meet.
