TOLEDO — United opened the league schedule and played its first home game against Stevenson on Tuesday, winning 7-0 in a 1A Trico League match.

“We did well. We’ve been on turf this whole time, we haven’t had a chance to practice on the field,” United coach Horst Malunat said. “It took us awhile to adapt to our own home field but we finally did. …The kids played well. It was nice having some freshman step in (Edgar Barragan) and contribute, it’s nice having that other option.”
Alan Contreras made three saves in the shutout win.
United (1-3-1, 1-0) travels to face La Center on Thursday in a Trico League match.
