RAYMOND — The Tigers came out fierce against Life Christian, clawing to a 3-0 win in a District 4 2B tournament semifinal match here Wednesday.

Napavine faces Mossyrock for the district title at 3 p.m. Saturday in Raymond.

“I think we played really well until the last 10 points of that game,” Napavine coach Monica Dailey said. “We kind of let up on our intensity, but we played well, we stayed determined and we lacked communication at that end.”
Life Christian kept it close early in the first set, but the Tigers eventually pulled away and won 25-18. Napavine dominated the second set, 25-6, and cruised in the third set 25-15 to sweep the Eagles.

“We came in with a gameplan but we knew if we played our game, we would be fine,” Dailey said. “The girls have been really practicing well and playing well these last couple weeks so that’s really exciting to see. That’s where you want them — you want them to be climbing towards that peak coming into playoffs and they’re doing a good job with that.”

Ada Williams, Carleigh Oster, Ashley Dickinson, Melissa Lee and Olivia Alegria all served 100 percent for the Tigers. Williams recorded nine assists and Dickinson added seven assists.

Mollie Olson had a team-high 12 kills and four block-kills. Lee chipped in seven kills and three block kills and nine digs, while Abbi Music contributed four kills and eight digs.

Haily Murray added two block kills and Sydney Purvis had three kills for Napavine.

Napavine (16-1) lost to Kalama in last year’s district championship game.

The Tigers and Vikings have played twice this year, with Napavine earning a nonleague win on their home floor and Mossyrock earning a league win on their home floor.

“With them and us, you throw the cards up and where they land, they land,” Dailey said. “They’re a great, disciplined team and so we’re going to have to be a great, disciplined team also. I think we’re capable, I know they’re capable. It’s always a fun competition because all of our girls are friends with them. It’s kind of a pride thing — we got it earlier in the season, they got it when it counted so now it really counts.”
