Thursday’s 2B Volleyball: Adna Takes Down Pe Ell

ADNA — The Pirates didn’t need long to earn a win, defeating Pe Ell 3-0 in a Central 2B League volleyball match here on Thursday.

Adna won 25-12, 25-11 and 26-24.

Morgan Trotter had eight kills for the Pirates.

“We had to make a lineup change in the middle of the second game. They really served effectively,” Adna coach Wendie Dotson said of the Trojans. “We missed a bunch of serves, nine total — we’re usually fairly low. They served well and caught us off guard.”

Dotson also noted the play of Tori Lange in the front row, the setting and offensive orchestrating from Ruby Bower and Kelsi Latimer, and the back-row passing of Darian Humphrey and Anna Jones.

Pe Ell was led by Maggie Elliott with seven kills.

“It was a really slow start, but by game three, we put some things together. I was happy with how we ended,” Pe Ell coach Karie Cleveland said.

Adna (3-6, 2-3 league) hits the road to face Morton-White Pass on Tuesday in a C2BL match in Morton. Pe Ell (0-7, 0-5 league) hosts Kalama on Thursday.
Mossyrock Puts Away Loggers

ONALASKA — Second-ranked Mossyrock made short work of Onalaska here Thursday night, winning a Central 2B League volleyball match 25-13, 25-16, 25-7.

Mckinzie Pannkuk served 100 percent with a pair of blocks, Olivia Mitten had seven kills and 12 digs, and Sophia Leal played well defensively with 20 digs, according to Logger coach Terri Dalsted. Eryn Duryea notched 24 digs and played well at the net, Dalsted added.

“I felt that we played with intensity tonight, and the girls kept playing hard against a great team,” she pointed out. “My girls had grit tonight, and it’s something we tried to work on.”

Onalaska (1-6, 1-3 league) plays at Toledo on Tuesday. Mossyrock (6-1, 4-0 league) plays at Toutle Lake on Tuesday.
Ducks Fly Past Toledo in Three

TOLEDO — Toutle Lake swept Toledo, 25-16, 25-20, 25-12, here Thursday night in Central 2B League volleyball action.

Kate Demery, Stacie Spahr and Rylie Pliler combined for 17 kills for Toledo, with Spahr adding four blocks and playing well at the net, Toledo coach Candace Maier said.

“I was just happy with the talking,” Maier said. “We had worked quite a bit on trying to stay positive and talk throughout the match, and they did a lot better at that.”

Toledo (0-7, 0-4 league) hosts Onalaska on Tuesday.
Napavine Wins in Sweep

RANDLE — Napavine kept its record pristine here Thursday, beating Morton-White Pass 25-11, 25-11, 25-13 in a Central 2B League volleyball match.

Abbi Music served 100 percent with nine digs and seven kills, and Tiger coach Monica Dailey cited the serving and defense of Maddie Thompson.

Napavine focused on jump-serving during the match, Dailey said, and the team showed improvement throughout, missing five serves in the first set, two in the second and just one in the third.

Ashley Dickinson was the first server for Napavine in the third set, notching seven aces and helping the Tigers to a 17-0 start.

“They did a good job of focusing on those serves,” Dailey said. “It’s something new to push them a little bit harder.”

Carly King had seven assists and four kills, and Hannah Smathers dished three assists with perfect scoring for MWP. Aubree Gross added four kills and Belen Salguero passed well, MWP coach Tammy Kelly said.

“We just couldn’t seem to get going last night,” the coach noted. “And we struggled quite a bit in serve-receive.”

Morton-White Pass (3-5, 2-3 league) hosts Adna in Morton on Tuesday. Napavine (9-0, 5-0 league) plays at Kalama on Tuesday.
