Friday’s 2A Softball: W.F. West Holds Off Rochester

By The Chronicle
ROCHESTER — Rochester took an early lead, but W.F. West got the bats going and cruised to an 18-7 win over the Warriors in an Evergreen 2A Conference softball game here on Friday.
Lexie Strasser got the win, pitching four innings and allowing just one hit.
W.F. West had 15 hits, highlighted by Paetynn Lopez hitting a home run that hit the top of the fence twice before finally falling over for a round-tripper.
Kindra Davis was 4 for 4 with three doubles and Kyndra Haller was 2 for 3 with two doubles. Ashlee Vadala was 2 for 3 with two runs and Jordan Crawford was also 2 for 3 with a double for the Bearcats.
Hunter Hahn was 3 for 3 at the plate with two doubles and Delaney Glazer had two hits for the Warriors.
Rochester scored six runs in the top of the first inning, but the Bearcats answered with five runs in the bottom of the inning and added a run in the second inning to tie the game.
“We go in the bottom and we just talked about you’re not going to score seven runs with one swing, so don’t try to do too much and trust yourselves,” W.F. West coach Mike Keen said. “Lexie came in and shut them down.”
W.F. West scored four runs in the third inning and recorded eight in the fourth to help end the game in five innings.
The Bearcats (11-1, 9-0 league) are scheduled to host Tumwater on Monday, but Keen said it was unlikely Recreation Park would be ready by Monday, so the team will likely play in Tumwater as the home team in an EvCo matchup. Rochester (8-9, 5-7 league) hosts Black Hills on Tuesday for senior night.

Tumwater Shuts Down Centralia 13-3
