Friday’s 2B Softball: Timberwolves Rally to Split With Adna
RANDLE — The Timberwolves had the lead early in an eventual 9-4 Game 1 loss, but came back to salvage a split with an 8-7 win in Game 2 of a Central 2B League softball twinbill against Adna here Friday.
Emily Sliva and Skye Snow were both 3 for 4 for Adna in Game 1, and Jenikka Poppe homered in the sixth inning and got the win in the circle.
Shaylee Peters was 3 for 4 with a double, Hannah Smathers was 2 for 4, and Chloe Goble and Chloee Justice each had doubles for MWP, which led 4-2 before Adna scored seven in the final two innings. Zoe McCoy struck out seven in the circle for the Timberwolves.
Morton-White Pass, though, built a 5-1 lead after two innings of the nightcap and never trailed. McCoy worked all seven innings to get the win, and she, Smathers and Taylor Hazen were all 2 for 3 with a double. Emily Hazen added a two-run homer in the fifth inning.
Sliva went 4 for 4 with three doubles for Adna, and Lili Glover and Ruby Bower were each 2 for 4.
Timberwolf coach Rob Hazen was impressed with his young team’s play on the night, which featured only three errors in 14 innings.
“We played good defense, hit the ball, and ran the bases well,” he said. “The kids started to believe in themselves.”
Morton-White Pass (7-7, all league games) hosts Napavine on Monday. Adna (9-5, all league games) hosts Rainier on Tuesday.
