Tuesday’s 1A Baseball: Montesano Bumps Beavers, 7-0

By The Chronicle

MONTESANO — Nate Kloempken kept the Beavers at bay, and Montesano picked up a 7-0 1A Evergreen League baseball victory here Tuesday.

Kloempken pitched all seven innings, striking out nine and allowing four hits.

“He’s a good pitcher, and he spun a gem today,” Tenino coach Conner Hogue said.

Spencer Brewer went 3 for 3 for the Beavers, and starter Dylan Stakelin worked into the fifth inning.

“We made errors today, but Dylan threw extremely well,” Hogue said. “Our defense needs to play better behind him.”

Montesano led 1-0 until the fifth inning, when it took advantage of a few errors and put a few hits together to score the balance of its runs.

“We had one bad innings again,” Hogue said, “where we can’t complete plays defensively. It’s one of those games where we just gotta figure it out.”
