College Basketball: Red Devils Top Blazers

Centralia’s Austin Curry gets fouled by a Lower Columbia defender while going up for a shot during an NWAC West Division basketball game in Centralia on Wednesday.

Centralia scored 50 points in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to defeat Lower Columbia, as the Red Devils prevailed 77-69 in NWAC West Division action in Centralia on Wednesday.
The Blazers were led by Austin Curry’s 25 points. DJ Dorsey added 18 and Braden Hannold pitched in 13 points for Centralia.
Devin Johnson scored 32 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Lower Columbia in both categories. Spencer Sweet scored 15 points, Elijah Cotton-Welch chipped in 11 points and Keun Palu-Thompson rounded out the players in double figures with 10 points.
Lower Columbia shot 50 percent from the field, although the Blazers had a 38-35 advantage on the boards.
The Red Devils padded their lead early and took a 31-19 lead into the locker room at halftime. But Centralia came out hot in the second half and was able to get close to the Red Devils, but the hole was too deep to climb out of as Lower Columbia held on for the win.
Centralia (4-22, 1-11 league) hosts Green River on Saturday at 7 p.m. in another West Division battle on senior night.
