Tuesday’s 2A Boys Wrestling: Warriors Fall to Tumwater 36-29
By The Chronicle
TUMWATER — Rochester got a handful of strong individual performances here in a 36-29 Evergreen 2A Conference wrestling loss to Tumwater.
Ian Lupardus, at 152 pounds, notched a first-round pin, and Kalob Spann, at 182, got a second-round pin.
“They wrestled well,” Rochester coach Jason Dick said, noting that both wrestlers moved up a weight class for Tuesday’s dual match.
Spann typically wrestles at 160 pounds, Dick added.
“To get a pin over a guy a lot bigger and a lot stronger than him, that was awesome,” the coach pointed out.
Riley Cohron won by major decision (15-2) at 145, Jayden Lancaster got a 9-6 win at 170, and Elijah Spitzer won by second-round pin — with less than a second left on the clock — in the heavyweight bout.
Dailin Schlecht added a 9-0 major decision victory at 132 for Rochester.
Rochester (1-3) hosts Tenino in the Scatter Creek rivalry match on Thursday. The Warrior girls wrestle in the Athena Pageant tournament in Auburn on Saturday.
