Saturday’s Prep Girls Soccer: W.F. West Shuts Out Rochester
By The Chronicle
W.F. West scored three goals in the first half to cruise to a 4-0 win against Rochester in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls soccer game in Chehalis on Saturday afternoon.
Brianna Powe scored in the third minute on an assist by Lexi Roberts. Cameron Sheets scored in the 29th minute on an assist by Madi Mencke and Tizzie Zylstra got on the board in the 34th minute on an assist by Taya McCallum.
Powe tallied her second goal of the game in the 45th minute off of a throw-in by Elizabeth Patana. W.F. West goalkeeper Kristin Jendryka made one save in the clean sheet.
“The girls did well. We were concentrating on our attack in the final third and set pieces. Three goals came off of a result of a throw-in,” W.F. West coach Allen Anderson said. “Cameron (Sheets) had a good game for us in the midfield. She had a good combo with Madi (Mencke) to get her goal. It was nice to see the girls play with a lot of energy and they did a good job with their attack, I was quite pleased.”
W.F. West (10-4-1, 5-4) sits in third place in the EvCo with one game left, traveling to Tiger Stadium on Tuesday to take on Centralia.
Note: Centralia lost to Tumwater 9-0 on Saturday night at Tiger Stadium.
