Wednesday’s Prep Girls Soccer: Pirates Clinch Central 2B League Title With Win Against Ocosta

ADNA — Adna scored all four goals in the first half to cruise to a 4-0 win against Ocosta in a Central 2B League girls soccer game here on Wednesday night.

The Pirates clinched the C2BL crown for the second straight season with the victory.

Cierra Swenson opened the scoring in the fifth minute off of a free kick. Summer White scored in the 14th minute on an assist by Payton Aselton and Aselton scored the next goal in the 18th minute on an assist by Presley Smith. Macy Kalnoski scored the final goal of the night in the 31st minute with an assist by Cierra Swenson.

“It was senior night for us and our seniors played top notch against Ocosta,” Adna coach Juli Aselton said. “We dominated the game tonight and even though we didn’t score in the second half, we had some great chances.”

Coach Aselton noted it was one of the best games for Smith in the first half.

Adna outshot Ocosta 40-2. It was senior night for Lorien Walker, Jordyn Swenson, Cierra Swenson, Brynn Arrington, Makaela Meister and Payton Aselton.

The Pirates (12-2-1, 8-0) hit the road on Monday to take on Life Christian in the regular season finale.

Napavine’s Taliaferro Bouge Records Hat Trick in 9-1 Win Over Winlock

NAPAVINE — Makensee Taliaferro Bouge recorded a hat trick for the Tigers in a 9-1 win against Winlock in a Central 2B League girls soccer game here on Wednesday.

Taliaferro Bouge started the scoring in the fourth minute, but Winlock answered right away in the fifth minute on a goal by Alexa Barragan.

It was all Napavine after that, starting with Halee Williams converting a penalty kick in the 12th minute. Natalya Marcial scored in the 19th minute and Chloe Stewart followed it up with a goal in the 20th minute.

Marcial scored her second of the night in the 30th minute and Taliaferro Bouge recorded her second goal of the night in the 39th minute for a 6-1 lead at halftime.

Taliaferro Bouge completed the hat trick in the 53rd minute and Mercedez Becerra found the back of the net in the 55th minute. Liliana Marcial tallied the final goal of the night in the 69th minute.

“They played good. I was able to play some of my players in different positions,” Napavine coach Emily McCarthy said. “I moved Natalya (Marcial) back to sweeper, allowed my girls to tryout other positions. We focused on passing and line runs like we always do.”

It was senior night for Napavine’s Mary Fillmore, Sydney Burdick, Kazmira Hardenbrook, Yoselyn Sandoval, Trinity Underhill, Halee Williams, Jadynne League, Chloe Stewart, Gabriella Garcia, Chelsea Sparks, Sarah Englis and Emma Ross.

Napavine (8-7, 5-3) travels to Kalama on Monday for the regular season finale.

Toledo Blanks Toutle Lake

TOUTLE — Toledo was too much for Toutle Lake here on Wednesday in an 8-0 win in a Central 2B League girls soccer game.

The first goal was an own goal off a corner kick by Rose Dillon in the 11th minute. Maryssa Peters scored in the 23rd minute off an assist by Dillon. Nyssa Castro scored unassisted in the 38th minute and Chole Nyberg scored on an assist by Marina Smith in the 40th minute for a 4-0 lead at halftime.

Peters scored her second of the night in the 43rd minute on an assist by Dillon. Dillon scored goals in the 48th and 57th minutes on an assist by Smith on each goal, and the two reversed roles in the 60th minute for the final goal of the night.

“I think the team played overall really well today. Everytime we play the same team twice a year, we struggle with it,” Toledo coach Noel Vazquez said. “We were able to pick it up the last couple games and compete right from the beginning. It made a big difference, the pressure started right away. All in all, it was a really good team effort.”

Vazquez shouted out his JV players for coming off the bench and keeping up the level of play, including the first career varsity goal for Castro.

Toledo (11-4, 7-2) hosts Winlock on Monday in the regular season finale.
