1A Football: Tenino Takes Down Wolf Eagles

TENINO — Paxton Russell got it done on the ground and through the air to lead the Beavers to a 56-38 win over Life Christian/Northwest Christian in a non-league football game here on Friday.

Russell had four carries for 16 yards and a score and also caught eight passes for 231 yards and four touchdowns.

Quarterback Aiden Wright was 10-of-24 passing for 228 yards and four touchdowns, and also had 163 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. Shawn Nicholson added 101 yards and a score on 10 carries and Gavin Watson chipped in 177 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries for the Beavers.

Tenino had more than 700 yards of total offense.

“Our kids played really hard. We got some things we need to work on,” Tenino coach Cary Nagel said. “It was our first homecoming win for the seniors. This one was pretty big for them.”

Nagel highlighted Takari Hickle and Watson on defense.

“I’m really proud of the kids. It was a good win for the community,” Nagel said.

Tenino (2-2) hosts Hoquiam next Friday in the opening 1A Evergreen League game of the season.
