By The Chronicle
ABERDEEN — Centralia’s Tessa Smith tied for medalist honors to help lead the Tigers to a 74-43 win over Aberdeen in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls golf match at Highlands Golf Course here on Wednesday.
Smith and Aberdeen’s Ryder Heikkila each had 22 points to tie for medalist honors. Lexi Erb took third place with 18 points.
Centralia’s Mazzi Nowicki and Lily Miller each recorded 13 points. Jordan Blaettler added eight points and Karen Wu rounded out the Tigers with five points.
“We played really well. We’ve improved and continue to improve,” Centralia coach Hal Gronseth said. “Five of our six kids had their best score or tied their best score, that was good.”
Centralia will head to Olympia on Tuesday and Wednesday to compete in the District 4 2A girls golf tournament at Capitol City Golf Course.
Wolves Devour Warriors
Rochester’s Kylie Miller scored her second best round of the year but it wasn’t enough as Black Hills won 97-25 in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls golf match at Riverside Golf Course in Chehalis on Wednesday.
Miller tallied 15 points for one of her best rounds of the season. Black Hills’ Mckenna Canty tallied 31 points to earn medalist honors and teammate Lilly Nguyen finished second with 19 points. Taylor Reed placed third with 18 points.
Rochester’s Alex Anderson tallied five points and Kyra Darnell recorded four points. Alyssa Pontes rounded out the Warriors with one point.
“We played pretty well. Kyra had to stop due to a back injury after six holes which limited her today,” Rochester coach Brian Keese said. “Kylie Miller put up her second best round of the year, we were pleased with that.”
Rochester will tune up for districts by hosting Montesano on Friday at Riverside Golf Course in a non-league match.

“Elizabeth played better than she’s done. She was surprised at the end that she scored that well,” W.F. West coach Bruce Thompson said. “She tapered off at the end, she’s getting better.”
Tumwater’s Lily McCaulley earned medalist honors with 36 points. Kennedy Collins finished second with 21 points and Twining and Tumwater’s Marisa Monohan tied for third with 20 points.
