Tuesday’s Prep Volleyball: W.F. West Sweeps Centralia in Swamp Cup Volleyball

W.F. West didn’t need long to earn an Evergreen 2A Conference win in Chehalis on Tuesday, with the Lady Bearcats sweeping Centralia 3-0 in Swamp Cup volleyball.
W.F. West won with set scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-14.
Paytton Crawford recorded 26 assists and 14 digs and Ashlyn Whalen added eight digs. Mak Moore led the Bearcats with 12 kills, Kailey Hoyt tallied seven kills and Megan Pallas chipped in six kills.
“I thought they played really well. We got to look at some different lineup options and we spread our offense,” W.F. West coach Emily Mora said. “They remained confident throughout the match and did a good job finding what options were available in getting a kill. It was great night to honor the Lewis County breast cancer support group.”
Centralia’s Danika Jensen served 100 percent with six digs and Kylie Sharp served 100 percent with 14 digs. Jayden Hawley was 7 of 7 serving for the Tigers.
“You could definitely tell which team had the experience on their side tonight. The girls were pretty down after that match because they know they’re capable of more,” Centralia coach Marti Smith said. “We’re definitely looking forward to putting up a tougher fight the next go around. We just were not in sync tonight.”
W.F. West (8-1, 4-1) travels to Tumwater on Thursday while Centralia (0-8, 0-4) hosts Aberdeen on Thursday in an EvCo match.
Note: Rochester fell to Aberdeen 3-0 on Tuesday in an EvCo match in Rochester.

Mossyrock Sweeps Toledo
MOSSYROCK — The Vikings earned a 3-0 sweep over Toledo in a Central 2B League volleyball match here on Tuesday.
Mossyrock won with set scores of 25-13, 25-10 and 25-13.
Jenny Brockway served 17 of 18 and tallied four aces, four digs and three kills and Heather Edgar recorded eight kills and six blocks.
Mossyrock coach Alex Nelson was pleased with her team’s consistent play. Nelson noted she was able to sub in her bench players in the second and third sets and they played well in their opportunity.
Mossyrock (7-3, 5-1) travels to Onalaska on Thursday for a C2BL match.

Napavine Cruises Past Wahkiakum
CATHLAMET — The Tigers made quick work of the Mules here on Tuesday in a 3-0 sweep in a Central 2B League volleyball match.
Napavine won with set scores of 25-12, 25-14 and 26-24.
Ada Williams served 100 percent with three aces and nine assists and Olivia Alegria also served 100 percent with two aces and 15 digs.
Ashley Dickinson served 100 percent with three aces, eight assists and 10 kills and Rae Sisson served 100 percent with 14 digs. Olivia Woodrum had seven digs, Vannie Fagerness tallied five digs and Haily Murray totaled six kills and two block kills for the Tigers.
“It was a great team effort by everyone,” Napavine coach Monica Dailey said. “Some people didn’t have a lot on the stat sheet but they all contributed big time tonight.”
Napavine (8-2, 4-2) hosts Rainier on Thursday in a C2BL match.
Note: Pe Ell lost to Northwest Christian (Lacey) 3-0 in a Pacific 2B League match in Lacey on Tuesday. Toutle Lake swept Adna in Toutle and Kalama defeated Morton-White Pass 3-1 in Kalama in other C2BL action on Tuesday.

Mary M. Knight Tops Oakville
OAKVILLE — Mary M. Knight was too much for Oakville here on Tuesday, as the Acorns lost 3-0 in a 1B Coastal League volleyball match.
Mary M. Knight won with set scores of 25-21, 25-19 and 25-20.
Joanna Kukhar had two aces and seven kills and Mya Ortivez tallied three aces and two kills for the Acorns.
“I think tonight was one of the better games they’ve played as a team,” Oakville coach Jessica Spitzer said. “I’m proud of how they played. Their attitudes were up, the hustle was better. I’m super proud even though they didn’t get the W.”
Oakville (2-7, 0-4) travels to face Rochester’s JV on Thursday.
