Friday’s 2A Softball: Bearcats Slash Through Warriors

ROCHESTER — W.F. West’s Ashlee Vadala struck out 12 batters in the circle and was a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate to lead the Bearcats past Rochester, 12-1, in five innings in an Evergreen 2A Conference softball game here on Friday.
Vadala allowed four hits and one run, while hitting a home run and driving in two runs.
Olivia Dean led off the game with a solo homer and was 2 for 4 with two RBI and two runs. Paytton Crawford, Annika Waring, Ashlyn Whalen and Paetynn Lopez each had two hits for W.F. West.
Rochester’s Hunter Hahn was 2 for 2 with a HBP and an RBI and Kiah Horger had a hit and a run.
Delaney Glazer started in the circle for Rochester and struck out six batters in four innings of work.
The Bearcats scored a run in the first off of Dean’s homer, then added five runs in the second and added in the third for a 7-0 lead after three.
W.F. West tacked on three runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth. Rochester scored a run in the bottom of the fifth, but it wasn’t enough as the mercy rule ended the game.
W.F. West (6-2, 3-0) hosts Tumwater on Tuesday, April 10, while Rochester (4-2, 1-1) travels to Tumwater to face Black Hills on April 10 in an EvCo matchup.

Tumwater Homers Past Centralia
Tumwater’s Ashley May and Myiah Seaton both hit home runs, and the Thunderbirds topped Centralia, 8-3, on Friday afternoon in EvCo softball action at Fort Borst Park.
Sophie Duffy hit a solo home run for Centralia, and Kylie Sharp went 2 for 4.
Tumwater broke a 1-1 tie with a five-run fourth inning to take control of the game.
Aspen Lilly went 1 for 1 and drove in a run for Centralia.
Savannah Owen pitched all seven innings for Tumwater, striking out nine, walking five and allowing six hits.
Centralia (1-5, 0-2 league) hosts Timberline in a nonleague game on Friday.
