PE ELL — Annika Mason scored 17 points, none bigger than a game tying 3-pointer to send the game to overtime, as the Trojans were able to earn a 46-44 win against Onalaska in a Central 2B League girls basketball game here on Wednesday.
Mason led all scorers and added eight rebounds. Ellie Little scored 9 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Alli Justice scored 5 points and added four assists.
Phoebe Rich led Onalaska with 15 points and Eryn Duryea added 8.
Pe Ell opened the game with an 11-5 lead after the first quarter, but Onalaska battled back in the second quarter, although the Trojans led 22-18 at halftime.
The Lady Loggers came out strong in the third quarter and took a 29-27 lead going into the fourth. Onalaska led by 3 with 14 seconds left, but Mason’s clutch 3-pointer sent the game to overtime.
In the extra frame, Pe Ell knocked down 4 of 8 free throws and was able to hold off the Loggers to earn the win.
“We played better defensively and offensively. The pieces are starting to come together for us,” Pe Ell coach Chris Phelps said. “We got a couple key players back. Katie Davis, her presence was known.”
Phelps also noted the play of Rachel Wood and added that Mason went 3 of 5 from long range.
Pe Ell (1-5, 1-3) hosts Rainier on Friday in a league game, while Onalaska (1-4, 1-2) hosts Napavine on Friday in a C2BL game.

Lee, Olson Push Napavine Past Morton-White Pass
RANDLE — Melissa Lee and Mollie Olson each scored more than 20 points to lead the Tigers to a 60-27 win over Morton-White Pass in a Central 2B League girls basketball game here on Wednesday.
Lee scored 24 points and grabbed six rebounds and Olson scored 23 points.
Katie Salguero led MWP with 12 points and grabbing six rebounds.
The Tigers were all over the Timberwolves early, taking a 21-8 lead after one quarter and building the advantage to 48-13 at halftime.
“Too many turnovers led to easy transition buckets for them. Our shot production was way down, and that’s due to having so many turnovers,” Morton-White Pass coach Tom Griffith said. “The combination of low shots and turnovers is a bad deal all around. You’ll struggle beating anybody with those nights. They are as advertised; they have seniors and they’re good ball players.”
MWP (2-3, 2-1) hosts Adna on Friday in Morton while Napavine (3-0, 3-0) is on the road again against Onalaska in a C2BL game.

Nelson Leads Vikings in Win Over Kalama

A few starters, however, found themselves in foul trouble and on the bench in that first half, Mossyrock coach Autumn Moorcroft said.
“They had to sit a little bit, but they played well with fouls,” Moorcroft said. “They learned how to play with fouls tonight, and I think that’s important.”
Akura Rocha led Kalama with 10 points.
Mossyrock (5-1, 2-1 league) plays at Winlock on Friday.

Jenna Jones led Winlock with 7 points and Cheleena Squibb scored six points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Toledo held Winlock to just 3 points in the second quarter to lead 19-7 at halftime.

We’re making very small strides. It’s going to take us some time but I think we’re moving in the right direction.”
