Tyson Guerrero, left, and Brandon White, right, both signed National Letters of Intent on Wednesday to play baseball for Washington State University.

Washington State University picked up a pair of local commitments on Wednesday, as W.F. West seniors Brandon White and Tyson Guerrero both inked National Letters of Intent to play baseball for the Cougars.

The duo formed a formidable 1-2 starting rotation for W.F. West’s baseball team last spring, when the Bearcats finished second in the State 2A tournament.

Guerrero, a 5-foot-11 lefthander, worked 40 ⅔ innings, striking out 70 batters and posting a 1.89 ERA. And at the plate, batted leadoff and hit a team-best .415, with 22 RBIs, five doubles, three triples and a home run. He was voted the Evergreen 2A Conference’s Most Valuable Player and The Chronicle’s All-Area MVP.

White, a 6-foot-8 righthander and All-EvCo first-team pick, worked a team-high 44 ⅔ innings with a 1.88 ERA and 54 strikeouts.

Both players are currently starters for W.F. West’s football team; Guerrero starts at receiver and cornerback, while White starts at wide receiver. The Bearcats (8-2) face undefeated North Kitsap on Friday night in Poulsbo in the first round of the State 2A playoffs.
