Tuesday’s Prep Girls Soccer: Miller’s Hat Trick Helps Centralia Blank Hoquiam
HOQUIAM — Alayna Miller recorded her first career hat trick and Centralia shut out Hoquiam, 4-0, here Tuesday in nonleague girls soccer action.
Miller, a sophomore, scored in the 12th minute, the 24th minute and the 30th minute to hit the milestone in the first half.
“The girls did a really good job of finding her in those open spaces where she could score goals,” Centralia coach Henry Gallanger said. “It’s been a good team effort to really look for her and really look for those chances.”
Makiah Harris added a goal in the 66th minute for the Tigers. Mia Martin assisted on two goals, while Jade Coady and Ana Ulrigg added assists.
The team was trying out a few new strategies, Gallanger added.
“We looked a little unorganized, and a little confused at times on what we were trying to do,” he said, “but it allowed me to work on some things I hadn’t been able to work on in the first week.”
Courtney Leifer-Carlson got the clean sheet in goal for Centralia, and the Tigers notched 13 on-target shots.
Centralia (3-0-1) plays La Center at Tiger Stadium on Thursday in its home opener.
Beavers Shut Out Castle Rock 7-0
TENINO — The Beavers dismantled Castle Rock, 7-0, here Tuesday night during a nonleague 1A soccer match.
Freshman Brieanna Dell led Tenino with a hat trick, while Lannie Dowies and Lara Kershaw each added two goals. Rhian Mathis added an assist.
Tenino (2-0) hosts W.F. West in a nonleague game on Thursday.
