Legion Baseball: I-5 Toyota’s Season Ends at State Against Bellingham

SPOKANE — I-5 Toyota/Mountain Dew’s season came to an end here on Monday, falling to Bellingham 10-7 at the State AAA Legion Baseball tournament.

Bellingham and I-5 Toyota combined for 28 hits in the game, including 12 hits from I-5 Toyota.

Nole Wollan had four hits, two RBI’s and a run, and Drew Forgione added three hits and four runs. Dakota Hawkins had two hits and an RBI.

Hawkins got the start on the mound, pitching 7 ⅓ innings, allowing 15 hits and nine earned runs with four strikeouts.

I-5 Toyota took a 2-0 lead after the first inning, but Bellingham tied the game in the fourth. Each team scored in the fifth for a 3-3 game after five innings.

Bellingham scored two in the bottom of the seventh to take a 5-4 lead. I-5 Toyota scored two runs in the top of the eighth to regain the lead, but Bellingham answered with five runs in the eighth to take the lead and hold on in the ninth for the win.

I-5 Toyota Stays Alive With Win Over Mt. Spokane

I-5 Toyota built an early lead and held off a furious Mt. Spokane rally in the sixth inning to earn an 8-6 win to stay alive in the State AAA Legion Baseball tournament here on Sunday.

Tyson Guerrero got the start on the mound, and pitched eight innings, allowing one hit with 12 strikeouts. Dakota Hawkins came in and closed the game out for I-5 Toyota in the ninth.

Drew Forgione and Guerrero each had two hits and a run, and Paul added two hits, two RBI’s and a run. Adrian Boites hit a 2-run homerun in the fourth for I-5 Toyota.

I-5 Toyota started the game off with a run in the first inning, and added a run in the third for a 2-0 lead. Boites’ homerun in the fourth pushed the lead to 4-0, and three more runs in the fifth put I-5 Toyota up 7-0 after five innings.

Mt. Spokane got the bats going in the sixth inning. Broc Selstrom and Adrian Boites each didn’t record an out as Mt. Spokane batted through the lineup and scored six runs. Guerrero came back on and finished the inning to halt the bleeding at six runs.

I-5 Toyota added an insurance run in the eighth inning with four straight walks to secure the win.

Saturday’s Results

Skagit Comes From Behind to Defeat I-5 Toyota

I-5 Toyota spotted themselves a four-run lead after two innings, but the Skagit Sox came back and earned a 5-4 win in the opening game of State AAA Legion Baseball tournament action here on Saturday.

I-5 Toyota started the game with three runs in the first inning and added another run in the second for a 4-0 lead. But Skagit battled back with four runs in the middle innings to tie the game. It was tied until the bottom of the ninth, as Skagit scored the winning run on a walkoff sacrifice fly to earn the victory.

Brandon White got the start on the mound, pitching 4 ⅔ innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts in the no decision.

Tyson Guerrero had two hits and a run, and Nolan Wasson and Tysen Paul each had hits for I-5 Toyota.

I-5 Jeep Renegades’ Season Ends at State

WALLA WALLA — The I-5 Jeep Renegades season came to an end here on Sunday, falling to Pullman 7-6 in an elimination game at the State AA Legion Baseball tournament.

“Definitely not the way we want to end the tournament. But if we compare ourselves from the beginning, we made a lot of big improvements,” I-5 Jeep Renegades coach Cody Ray said. “It was fun to coach, I want to thank our sponsors.”

The Jeep Renegades took an early 3-0 lead after two innings. Pullman scored five runs in the fourth to cut the lead to 6-5, and added two more in the fifth to take the lead for good.

Camden Ryan got the start and pitched five innings, allowing seven earned runs on nine hits with three strikeouts.

Colton Baker had two hits including a double and a run. Josiah Johnson had a hit, two runs and two RBI’s, and Luke Bennett had a hit, two RBI’s and a run.

Bruins Swing Past Renegades

WALLA WALLA — The I-5 Jeep Renegades didn’t have the bats going on Saturday, tallying just five hits in a 6-2 loss to Walla Walla here on Saturday in the State AA Legion Baseball tournament.

Daniel Fagerness started on the mound and pitched five innings, allowing four earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts.

Fagerness helped his own cause at the plate with a hit and an RBI, and Kalen Hazen and Luke Bennett each had a hit and a run for the Renegades.

The Bruins kicked off the scoring in the third inning with a 1-0 lead, and padded their lead with three runs in the fifth for a 4-0 advantage. Each team scored two runs in the sixth, and the Renegades couldn’t get anything going to comeback in the seventh.

Tenino Stays Alive at State Tournament

LYNDEN — The Tenino Taco-Pizza’s stayed alive at the State A Legion Baseball tournament on Monday, defeating Lower Columbia 6-2.

Tenino scored four runs in the first inning and padded their advantage with two more runs in the fourth inning to seal the win. Tenino had 10 hits in the contest.

The tournament started on Saturday, with Walla Walla defeating Tenino 6-2. Walla Walla scored two runs in the first inning to take the lead and added another run in the second to take a 3-0 lead. Tenino scored runs in the third and sixth innings, but it wasn’t enough to earn the win.

Tenino stayed alive on Sunday with a 10-2 win over Lynden Christian. Tenino scored two runs in the first and four runs in the second to allow Tenino to cruise the rest of the way to the win.

Tenino continues play in the state tournament today at 3 p.m. in Lynden.
