W.F. West’s Will Alexander Finishes in the Top 25 at State

SPOKANE — W.F. West’s Will Alexander finished in the top 25 at the State 2A Boys Golf Tournament at the Creek at Qualchan Golf Course here on Wednesday.
Alexander shot an 8-over 80 in the second round to go along with a first-round score of 81, finishing with a two day total of 161 to put himself in a tie for 23rd place.
Othello’s Patrick Azevedo won the tournament, shooting 149 (plus-5) to win by two strokes.
Centralia’s Noah Thomas just missed the Day 1 cut, shooting an 86 with a cut-line of 84.
Tumwater’s Dylan Christoffer was the highest EvCo finisher, shooting a 154 to take eighth.
On the girls side, three W.F. West golfers were unable to make the cut after the first round at Indian Canyon Golf Course in Spokane. Delanie Calkins had the best round, shooting a 104 to miss the cut by six strokes. Carly Noble was close behind with a 105 and Kate Balmelli shot a 108 to round out the Bearcats.
Ephrata’s Kenedee Peters won the 2A girls title by nine strokes with a two-day total of 146. Black Hills’ Mckenna Canty shot a 171 to finish in a tie for 11th.
In the 1A boys tournament at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco, Hoquiam’s John Sand tied Cle Elum-Roslyn’s Nick Baker at 142 for first, but Baker won the state championship on the first playoff hole.
Ilwaco’s Blake Kukula won the 1B/2B boys tournament by seven strokes with a 145 at Horn Rapids Golf Course in Richland.
