Wednesday’s 2A Girls Golf: W.F. West Qualifies Three Golfers For State

W.F. West had three golfers make the cut at the District 4 2A Girls Golf Tournament and qualify for the state tournament next week.
Carly Noble was the best local finisher, shooting an even 100 on both days to finish at an even 200 for the tournament. Kate Balmelli was close behind at 201, shooting a 104 on Day 2. Delanie Calkins also made the cut for state, shooting a 105 on day two for a 211 total, making it just under the cut of 215.
All three golfers took part in the state tournament last spring.
“The girls are excited about going back again,” W.F. West coach Bruce Thompson said.
W.F. West’s Abbey Link made the cut for Day 2, but shot a 126 for a 244 total. Rochester’s Mati Ashton also played on day two, shooting a 113 to finish with a two day total of 223.
Washougal’s Kallie Sakamoto won the tournament, shooting a 78 on day two for a 157 total. Black Hills’ Mckenna Canty finished second with a total of 166, and Black Hills’ Ellie Hirotaka placed third with 181. The top 20 golfers qualified for the State 2A tournament, which will be held Tuesday and Wednesday at Indian Canyon Golf Course in Spokane.
