Tuesday’s Prep Baseball: Bearcats Beat Monte in Regional Tuneup

LACEY — The Bearcats got a bit of a tuneup in before the regional round of the State 2A playoffs, beating Montesano 7-3 on Tuesday in a nonleague baseball game at the RAC.

Six different pitchers combined to strike out nine batters, with Adrian Boites working 1 ⅔ innings — with three strikeouts, two hits and a walk — to get the win.

Brandon White struck out three in two innings, and Tyson Guerrero struck out two of the three batters he faced in the seventh inning.

Dakota Hawkins highlighted W.F. West’s seven-run fourth inning with a bases-clearing double, and Tyler Pallas went 2 for 2 and drove in a run for the Bearcats. Boites was also 2 for 3 with an RBI.

W.F. West (19-2) enters the regional playoffs on Saturday at Ed Wheeler Field. The Bearcats face Eatonville at 1 p.m. and, with a win, would play either Columbia River or Highline later Saturday afternoon in the regional finals, with a spot in the State 2A tournament in Yakima on the line.
