Wednesday’s 2A Girls Golf: Rochester Defeats Centralia

Rochester’s Mati Ashton scored 21 points to earn medalist honors and helped the Warriors to a 49-34 win over Centralia in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls golf match at Riverside Golf Course on Wednesday.

Rochester’s Nicole Fry finished in second place with 10 points. Centralia’s Lydia Anderson and Lacey Duffy tied for third place with nine points.

Rochester’s Allison Beagley scored eight points and Ceci Sbai added seven points. Shelby Baird added three points and Elizabeth Miller rounded out the Warriors without recording a point.

“We were scoring points where we weren’t scoring points against them on Monday,” Rochester coach Kyle Sprague said. “Having Nicole back was a boost.”

Centralia’s Emily Meyer scored seven points, Tessa Smith added five points and Lilly Johnson rounded out the Tigers with four points.

Centralia and Rochester will be back on the course Tuesday and Wednesday in the District 4 2A Girls Golf Tournament at Riverside Golf Course.
Aberdeen Edges W.F. West

W.F. West had all of their scores in double digits, but it wasn’t enough as Aberdeen earned a 108-97 win over the Bearcats in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls golf match at Newaukum Valley Golf Course on Wednesday.

Haley Simmons led W.F. West with 23 points and recorded her first par on a par-4, finishing in a tie for second place. Carly Noble and Kate Balmelli were close behind with 19 points.

Delanie Calkins and Whitnee Herr each added 18 points, and Abbey Link rounded out the Bearcat scoring with 14 points.

“You want the girls to peak at the right time, and she’s coming into some pretty good stuff right at the end,” W.F. West coach Bruce Thompson said of Simmons.

Aberdeen’s Kate Slyter earned medalist honors with 24 points. Haley Farrer tied for second with 23 points and Mari Rabung finished fourth with 22 points.

W.F. West is back in action Tuesday and Wednesday in the District 4 2A Girls Golf Tournament at Riverside Golf Course.
Tuesday’s Results

W.F. West Swings Past Centralia

W.F. West’s Carly Noble scored 19 points to lead the Bearcats to a 71-35 win over Centralia in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls golf match at Riverside Golf Course on Tuesday.

Delanie Calkins finished in second with 18 points, and Centralia’s Lacey Duffy finished in third with 15 points.

W.F. West’s Kate Balmelli added 13 points and Haley Simmons was close behind with 12 points. Abbey Link chipped in nine points and Aeryn Elder scored seven point to round out the Bearcats.

Centralia’s Natalie Elwanger recorded seven points, and Lydia Anderson and Emily Meyer each recorded five points. Tessa Smith and Lilly Johnson each had three points for the Tigers.

W.F. West ends the regular season hosting Aberdeen at Newaukum Golf Course on Wednesday, while Centralia faces Rochester on Wednesday at Riverside.
