Tuesday’s Boys Soccer: United Pummels Castle Rock

CASTLE ROCK — United had the league title in hand, but that didn’t stop the Toledo-Winlock combo squad from scoring 11 goals in the first half en route to a 14-0 win over Castle Rock in a 1A Trico League boys soccer game here on Tuesday.
United was led by Andreas Malunat with a hat trick and Corbin Mansker, Gustavo Barragan, Santos Balbuena and Thomas Etheridge each had two goals. Jonathan Van Vleck had four assists and Isaac Garibay had three assists and a goal.
Dawson Hall scored on a penalty kick and Aidan Cibrian each had goals for United, and David Van Vleck and Daniel Guijosa also added assists for the the combo squad.
United led 3-0 after eight minutes, and scored four goals in a span of five minutes to take a 7-0 lead 16 minutes into the game. United added four more goals in the first half, then three more in the second half to cap the win and remain undefeated in league.
“We’ve been working on not only keeping possession and attacking while gearing up for playoffs. We executed them really well,” United coach Horst Malunat said. “I don’t want to apologize for my team playing super well and doing what we asked, but we did and it happened to be against an opponent that wasn’t as good.”
United has won 14 in a row since losing its opening game, and recorded their 10th shutout of the season.
United (14-1, 11-0 league) will wrap up the regular season on Thursday against Seton Catholic at Camas High School.
