College Baseball: Trailblazers Split Sunday Twinbill With Green River
PUYALLUP — The Trailblazers had the bats working in Game 1, but couldn’t muster the same offense in Game 2 to split with Green River here Sunday in NWAC West Region baseball action at Heritage Park.
Centralia won the first game, 10-8, before falling 6-3 in the nightcap.
The Blazers rapped out 11 hits in the opener, with Gabe Farrer leading the way with a 3 for 4 performance. Farrer hit a pair of doubles and drove in three runs, while Josh Muneno, Jordan Martinez and Mitch Johnson each added two hits. Muneno also doubled and drove in two runs.
Trailing 3-2, the Blazers scored seven runs in the top of the seventh inning and held on for the final two frames to secure the win.
Jack Oswood worked into the sixth inning in Game 1, striking out six with three walks and four hits.
Centralia managed five hits in Game 2, but Green River scored three in the fourth and three in the sixth to win. Taylor Mondina went 2 for 3 and drove in two runs, and Johnson was 2 for 3 and scored twice.
Connor Davis worked all six innings for Centralia, striking out 11 with nine hits and four walks.
Centralia (6-25, 5-8 league) hosts Grays Harbor in a West Region doubleheader on Saturday, starting at 1 p.m.
