Friday’s 2A Softball: Bearcats Claw Past Warriors
ROCHESTER — Lexie Strasser and Ashlee Vadala combined to shut down Rochester, as the Bearcats earned an 8-0 win in an Evergreen 2A Conference softball game here on Friday.
Strasser pitched the first three innings, and Vadala came in and pitched the final four innings. The two combined to allow no runs on five hits and two walks with 11 strikeouts combined.
At the plate, Kindra Davis was 2 for 4 with a triple, Olivia Dean was 2 for 5 with a double, Jordan Crawford had a double and Strasser had two hits — including a double — for the Bearcats.
Ally Hull went 2 for 3 for Rochester, which lost to W.F. West 16-1 back on March 31.
Warrior coach Jared Lancaster took the improvement as a good sign, despite the outcome.
“We’re just starting to gel a little bit better every game,” he said.
W.F. West scored a run in the first, but opened the game up with five runs in the second for a 6-0 lead. The Bearcats added runs in the third and seventh innings to cap the win.
W.F. West (7-1, 5-0 league) travels to face Aberdeen on Monday in an EvCo matchup, while Rochester (6-6, 3-4 league) plays at Black Hills on Tuesday.
Tumwater Tops Centralia, 11-2
The Tigers couldn’t get much going against Tumwater on Friday, falling 11-2 in an Evergreen 2A Conference softball contest.
