CC Baseball: Blazers Sweep Green River
Centralia picked up a pair of NWAC West Region baseball wins on Friday, sweeping Green River 10-5 and 3-1 at Ed Wheeler Field.
The Blazers trailed 5-4 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning in Game 1, but plated six runs to breaking things open. Isaac Kjose led the offense, going 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs.
Josh Muneno drove in three runs, going 2 for 4 with a double, and got the win on the mound, working eight innings with three strikeouts, three earned runs and four walks.
Mitch Johnson added a hit and knocked in two runs, and Taylor Mondina hit a double for Centralia.
The nightcap was a bit closer, though Centralia scored all three of its runs in the second and third innings and never trailed. John Sharkey threw a complete game on the mound, allowing four hits and striking out four with two walks, and Eric Fich had a hit and drove in two runs.
Mondina and Gabe Farrer each had two hits for the Blazers.
“Sharkey was really good in the second game and we had some good timely hitting,” Centralia coach Jake LeDuc said. “We’ve got things hopefully going in the right direction now.”
Centralia (5-24, 4-7 league) plays a doubleheader against Green River on Sunday at Heritage Park in Puyallup.
