CC Roundup: Blazers Earns First Division Win at Green River

AUBURN — Centralia had six players in double figures to help the Blazers earn their first NWAC West Division win here on Saturday, defeating Green River 85-80.

LaBrandon Price scored 19 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to lead the Blazers, and Austin Curry added 15 points. Joshua Broughton and Braden Hannold each added 13 points, Jaden White chipped in 11 points and DJ Dorsey was the other Blazer in double figures with 10 points.

Green River’s Cole Luckett scored a game high 21 points, and Kaelin Crane and Tareg Omer each added 19 points.

Centralia’s bench outscored the Gator reserves 24-8, and the Blazers shot over 50 percent from the field (31 of 61), which included 40 percent shooting from behind the arc.

Centralia (4-16, 1-5 Division) hosts Grays Harbor on Wednesday in an NWAC West Division matchup.

Lady Blazers Come Back to Top Gators

AUBURN — Centralia scored 26 points in the fourth quarter to comeback to defeat Green River 68-58 in NWAC West Division basketball action here on Saturday.

Tamika Etherly had a big game for the Blazers, recording a double double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Brianna Zaragoza-Jones added 13 points for Centralia.

Alexis Gleason led Green River with 21 points and Ariana Dougall added 16 points.

The Blazers led after the first quarter, 15-14, but the Gators played well in the second quarter for a 28-24 lead at halftime. Green River was able to push the advantage to 51-42 after three quarters, but the Blazers were able to mount a comeback and escape with a win.

Centralia won the turnover battle and had 13 steals to fuel the victory.

Centralia (12-8, 5-1 Division) hosts Grays Harbor at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in a West Region contest.
